Summer Training & Teams

Summer is truly our peak season at Awaken Discipleship and Training Center: starting this month, we have three programs running at full speed- our Collective Church Planting Program; Vastagos Summer Internship; and our Bridges Teams! Here is a recap of what we expect and areas of prayer!
Now in its 13th year, Collective Church Planting Intensive has trained about 150 students over the years in the Biblical basis and practical aspects of church planting. The course is open to pastors, potential church planters, and people who want to be equipped in leadership and form part of a new church plant. This year, we are excited to welcome 15 students and their children for 7 weeks this summer. While each year is different, this year is different: we will study for 7 weeks instead of the usual 8; our students are from 6 different states of Mexico, with one coming from Nicaragua!
We also added a 2 week A Workman Approved element, allowing students who cannot make the 7-week commitment a short glimpse into church planting. We have 7 students enrolled for this facet.
Please pray for the students as they prepare for this time, for openness to the Lord and his calling and plans; for unity and good health; and for future churches to be planted all throughout Latin America. We will be posting weekly on our Facebook page regarding Collective. Please stay connected with us and continue to pray for our students.
We have such a full summer coming our way with 10 teams scheduled. And we know that the Lord has great things in store for them. Throughout the planning process, we and the teams have prayerfully asked HIM the ministries to visit. And the Lord has opened some incredible doors.
There are people on these teams who have never been on a missions trip, some who have never left the US! MMost of us serving here at Awake DTC were in that same position hyears ago, and the Lord used that trip to open our hearts to missions. Our hope is that God really captures their hearts for the Great Commission, like he did in us.
There are many plans in place now to come alongside the local churches, encourage them and crete friendships. God has opened doors in children’s homes for kids who are HIV positive, with families in need, and local communities. We can’t wait to tell you how it all turns out.

We are so excited for our summer internship program, Vastagos, to begin! This summer we are welcoming 8 new interns from all different parts of Mexico and the U.S. We have one of our very own who serves in our Ninos del Rey program interning with us this summer. We have one intern coming from Sonora, MX. One coming from Veracruz, MX. Another from Mexico City, MX and two from California, USA. I am so excited to see how they all interact and serve with one another especially coming from different cultures and upbringings. These interns will experience all sides of ministry while they are here. Their weeks will be full of class time, outreach, hospitality, and shadowing missionaries and ministry workers in all kinds of fields. Whether it's serving alongside visiting teams, cleaning and prepping rooms for our guests, or studying the book of Nehemiah we pray the Lord would speak to their hearts and show them individually what their next step is in sharing Christ's love to the lost. Please pray for these interns as they take this step of faith and leave all their comforts back home to pursue and seek God’s calling for their lives.
